A video has been posted on YouTube showing a drag racing-style race involving two versions of the Ford Ranger pickup truck of the 2023 model year – one of them is equipped with a four-cylinder turbo engine, and the other is a more powerful V6.
The brand new Ford Ranger is already on sale in different countries except for the USA. Built on a modified version of the T6 platform, the new-generation midsize pickup received various upgrades, including a new V6 Power Stroke turbo diesel engine.
“There are many differences between the Ranger versions with a four-cylinder Biturbo engine and a V6 engine, including permanent all-wheel drive for the version with a V-shaped “six”.
Ranger with a V6 engine is definitely faster than with a four-cylinder unit, but, as the guys from the CarExpert team said, is it worth paying thousands of dollars for it? To answer this question, drag racing was arranged between them.
For comparison: Ranger Wildtrak with a Biturbed 2.0-liter EcoBlue diesel engine has a base price of about 73,000 Australian dollars. Meanwhile, choose a V6 for the same configuration, and this base price will increase to 76,000 Australian dollars.
Meanwhile, Ford has not provided any information about the Ranger’s arrival in the US, although a Ranger pickup truck in the performance of a SuperCrew with a long cargo platform has already been seen in testing. As for its powertrain, a diesel engine is unlikely to appear in the US, so the 3.0-liter EcoBoost twin-turbocharged engine from the new Ford Ranger Raptor is a suitable candidate for top-level options.
Not so long ago, we wrote that electrified FORD Maverick and Ranger pickups will receive the Lightning prefix in the name. The latest Ford brand changes are taking new steps in the development of a new 100% electric pickup truck. The idea of seeing a Ford Ranger Lightning is gaining momentum. The company has already applied for trademark registration in Europe. The model will become the “younger brother” of the Ford F-150 Lightning.
