Recently, Italian designer Oberdan Bezzi posted on his page the design of a new 525 RR sportbike, which he created for the premium Chinese brand VOGE. Is it beautiful? Which of the things presented in the picture is reality, and what will go into the series? The first details appeared.
It is no secret that in 2022 the Loncin concern, which owns the VOGE brand, launched a new 525 platforms, which should replace the existing 500 platforms. At the end of January, there was a “leak” of information on the new engine and model range, which it will be equipped with from 2023.
If all the data is correct, then Loncin is aiming at the sweetest market of small and medium-sized vehicles, which until now has been ruled by Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, and BMW – this is the 300-500 cc sector.
The Loncin as a contractor and the actual manufacturer of powertrains for BMW has been known for a long time: this plant makes 2-cylinder 800 cc engines for the Bavarians for the F 850 GS, as well as 1-cylinder engines for the G 310 series.
VOGE is the European Loncin brand, under which the company has launched an extensive model range, and it intends to compete even not with BMW, but with the Japanese.
Already, VOGE has a classic and a Turanduro with an injection 2-cylinder inline engine with a volume of 471 cc. with a capacity of 48 hp. As a result of the upgrade, VOGE motorcycles will surpass Japanese classmates in terms of their combined characteristics. And given the sanctions and difficulties with the delivery of equipment from Japan…
The VOGE 525 RR will be the third sport bike in the company’s lineup after the 300RR and the new 250R, which is about to appear on the market, and fits well into the program: why not compete with the Honda CBR500R?!
What is known about the new model, except for the picture from Bezzi?
It is known for sure that the 525 platforms are based on a new 494 cc engine with a capacity of 53.1 hp.
If we see a cantilever suspension of the rear wheel, and Ohlins fork, and Brembo brakes on the Italian artist’s concept, then, of course, such a chic set is unlikely to reach the basic version. But VOGE is known for a very careful selection of components, thanks to which it has every right to be called a premium brand. Since February, there have been several leaks in the network, according to which it can be assumed that the rear wheel pendulum will still be traditional – aluminum double-sided, but with a customizable mono amortize.
The basic configuration of the front-end fork and brakes are expected according to the specification no worse than that of Honda: an inverted fork and two radial calipers with large floating brake discs.
Now, VOGE 500-series motorcycles are equipped with Nissin brakes, moreover, not the cheapest specification with ABS from Bosch; forks are Kayaba, and the basic set of tires supplied to the Russian market is Pirelli. And together, this set works just fine.
In addition to the 525 RR, the neo-retro classic VOGE 525AC has already been introduced and has begun to appear in motorcycle showrooms in China. Adventure motorcycles 525DS and 525DSX are expected in the near future.
