Toyota has warned about the recall of more than 84 thousand new cars: we are talking about Tundra pickups and Lexus NX 250 and NX 350 crossovers. The reason for the recall campaign was a system failure in the operation of the electronic parking brake – it may not turn on and off, which is why there is a risk of the car rolling back. The problem will be fixed by updating the software – the procedure will be free for owners and will take no more than half an hour.
The exact number of cars that will be sent to the dealer has not yet been announced by the company, mentioning only “approximately 84 thousand cars of the 2022 model year.” There is also no official information about the recall campaign from the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Toyota promises to notify owners of potentially dangerous cars by October this year.
For Tundra, this is not the first issue discovered in recent months. In July, it was reported that when reversing, the pickup screen displays an image not from the rear camera, but from the front, which can misinform the driver and cause an accident. To eliminate the dangerous “glitch”, 31.4 thousand copies of Tundra were sent to service centers.
