Toyota has announced a special limited edition 40th Anniversary Special Edition, dedicated, as the name suggests, to the 40th anniversary of the model. The circulation will make only 4040 copies, which will be offered in three colors of the body and with racing stripes on the sides in the trademark retro colors of the Japanese brand. The novelty is intended exclusively for the U.S. market and will not appear in other countries.
Over four decades, more than four million copies of the Toyota 4Runner have been sold in the U.S. market. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the SUV, Toyota has prepared a special version, which is based on the all-wheel-drive modification of the 4Runner 2023 model year in the SR5 Premium configuration. There will be three body shades to choose from: white, Midnight Black Metallic, and Barcelona Red metallic.
Among the differences – are 17-inch bronze wheels and retro stripes on the sides in yellow, orange, and red. In the interior, the front fascia features an emblem indicating that the car belongs to the limited edition, and the seats have bronze stitching.

As a bonus, Toyota cited interesting developments that coincided with the 4Runner’s debut year in the U.S. market. That year, for example, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi was released and became the highest-grossing movie in the country.
