The American office of Toyota has presented an updated Camry Nightshade Edition. The first sedan in this version debuted in 2018, and now it can be ordered for cars with the “four” 2.5, both independently and as part of a hybrid installation. The “dark” four-door is distinguished by a radiator grille from the Camry TRD, tinted lighting, and matte bronze 19-inch wheels.
Toyota Camry has been the most popular mid-size sedan in America for 20 years, so it was one of the first to have a “dark” version of the Nightshade. Presented in 2018, the four-door sported black decor on the body instead of chrome, black wheels, and side mirror housings. There will be such a performance in the “Camry” of the next, 2023 model year, and the styling package is available exclusively to cars with a “four”.
The Camry Nightshade sedan can be painted in three colors to choose from black Midnight Black, White, and the new blue color Reservoir Blue.
Such cars are equipped with a Sport Mesh radiator grille from Camry TRD, rear spoiler, side mirrors, and nameplates in black and tinted optics for the first time. The wheels are 19-inch cast in a matte bronze color.
Everything else is standard for SE versions. These are LED headlights, dual-zone climate control, SofTex leather seat trim, multimedia with a seven-inch display, ten airbags, and a set of Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ electronic assistants. Among the latter are automatic high beam, automatic braking system with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping.
The range of Camry Nightshade engines includes an atmospheric 2.5 of the Dynamic Force family paired with an eight-band automatic. The internal combustion engine produces 205 horsepower and 252 Nm of torque. The drive can be front or full.
In addition, a hybrid THS II system is available, developing 211 forces. It is based on the same 2.5 motors, but instead of the automatic, there is a Variator. The top-end V6 3.5 unit does not combine with the “dark” decor.
According to Toyota itself, in 2020, the Camry in the Nightshade Edition accounted for five percent of sales. In 2021, there are already seven. By the way, 313,795 sedans were sold in the USA at the same time.
