Suzuki and Toyota will jointly produce a new electric crossover. It will be offered with front and all-wheel drive.

Toyota Motor and Suzuki Motor have teamed up to develop an inexpensive electric car. It should go on sale from 2025 at a price of about $17,500 — at the price of Duster. This is reported by the publication Autocar.

The electric model will be produced under both brands at the Maruti-Suzuki enterprise in Indian Gujarat. The export of the electric crossover is also planned. It is known that the Suzuki version received the working designation Y Y 8.

The car will be built on the new Toyota 27PL modular platform. In size, the crossover will be slightly larger than the new Hyundai Creta, that is, its length will be about 4.3 m and width — 1.88 m. The wheelbase of the YY8 is known — 2700 mm. The developers promise a non-standard futuristic design.

The Toyota/Suzuki electric car in the basic front-wheel-drive version will be equipped with a 140-horsepower motor and a battery with a capacity of 48 kWh. It will be able to travel about 400 km without recharging.

The all-wheel-drive modification will receive two motors with a total capacity of 170 hp and a 59 kWh battery, and its power reserve will be about 500 km.

By the way, the YY8 electric car is not the first joint model of Toyota and Suzuki recently. Earlier, Suzuki launched its own versions of the Toyota Corolla and RAV4.
