The American supercar SSC Tuatara is considered to be the fastest in the world by the maximum speed. Its potential maximum speed is close to 480 km/h, but it is not always possible to reach this indicator. However, 455 km/h, shown recently by one of the car’s owners, is quite impressive.
However, the car will become even more powerful in the future. According to the company’s founder Jerod Shelby, who spoke to the edition Motor Authority, special versions of the car are now being prepared, and one of them will be an all-wheel-drive hybrid.
Now SSC Tuatara is equipped with a 5,9-liter V8 engine, which owing to double-turbocharging makes 1750 horsepower. The drive thus remains strictly rear.
The new version will additionally get two electric motors on the front axle, which will make the car all-wheel drive and more powerful. Because of the increase in weight acceleration dynamics can not only not improve, but even suffer, but the maximum speed will definitely grow.
The new car is expected to arrive before 2025. Shelby did not rule out that it will get its own name and thus be distinguished from the Tuatara family.
Even earlier, the company will present the serial version of another novelty – SSC Tuatara Striker. In fact, it is the same supercar, only with a more developed aerodynamic dodger, which will be presented in August in California.
Due to the rear anti fender, front spoiler and other elements the car will lose in streamlining and maximum speed. But the downforce level at 258 kilometers per hour will grow almost three times.
