Ducati’s factory team racer Pecco Bagnaia was involved in a car accident during his vacation on the Spanish island of Ibiza. No one was injured in the incident, but the police who arrived at the scene established the fact of alcoholic intoxication of the Bagnaia who was driving.

The driver himself admitted his guilt. According to him, on Tuesday night he was driving from the club, where he and his friends celebrated his victory at the last Grand Prix held in the Netherlands. While driving a Citroen car, he lost control and rolled into a ditch on a roundabout.

Bagnaia admitted that he had consumed alcohol, apologized to everyone he had put in danger, and promised to learn this lesson forever. He also noted that he hardly drinks alcohol, and this evening was a very rare exception for him. Nevertheless, he is at least threatened with the deprivation of his driver’s license for several years.

According to the laws of Spain, the permissible norm of alcohol in a liter of exhaled air is 0.25 mg.

So, there was 0.87 mg of pure alcohol in the exhaled air of the Bagnaia at the time of the arrival of the police. This corresponds to 1.827 ppm in the blood and for an average man with a body weight of 80 kilograms means that immediately before the test he drank 0.450 liters of strong alcohol.

The Ducati team has not yet commented on the incident. Recall that the contract with Bagnaia is concluded until the end of 2024.
