General Motors Corporation has already started production of GMC Hummer EV electric pickups and introduced a more affordable Chevrolet Silverado EV model. This spring, a battery-powered Ford F-150 Lightning should get on the conveyor. But the Stellantis concern is late with the electrification of its Ram pickups. As it was announced last summer, the first electric-powered Ram will enter the market only in 2024. But its development is in full swing, and to attract the attention of the audience, a campaign called Ram Revolution has been launched, within which developers will systematically share information about the future pickup truck and conduct surveys of potential buyers.
Teaser of 2021
So far, only a new teaser of the future Ram 1500 BEV pickup truck and its platform has been published. Moreover, the car in the sketch differs from the one that was shown last year: both the headlights and the shape of the cab have changed. So far, it is only clear that this will not be a battery-powered version of the current Ram 1500 model, but an independent car with an original design.
For Ram electric vehicles (and related SUVs), the STLA Frame platform and traction batteries with a capacity of 159-200 kWh are being prepared, with which the mileage on a single charge should reach 800 km. According to the plan, by 2025, Ram electric vehicles should appear in the most important segments for the brand, and by 2030, electric versions will already be available for all models.
