Tesla owner and YouTube user Ryan Shaw owned several Teslas. In fact, he has a Model Y crossover, two Model 3 sedans, and a Model S Plaid. Nevertheless, it’s time for a pickup truck, and the Tesla Cybertruck still hasn’t appeared on the market, so Shaw decided to buy the Rivian R1T.
The show makes it clear that Tesla is a real leader in the field of electric vehicles. Older automakers are starting to plunge headlong into this segment, and some offer attractive options to the market, but the Show focuses more on startups. He says that although there are many EV startups, including the likes of Fisker, Canoo, and Lordstown, Rivian and Lucid are the only ones that supply cars besides Tesla.
Currently, there are only three variants in the US: the Rivian R1T, Ford F-150 Lightning, and GMC Hummer EV. While the basic F-150 Lightning has a good price, the top trim isn’t cheap.
First, why does he wants a pickup truck? Having an electric car that can overcome the tracks is what he likes. In addition, he often has to transport a large amount of equipment (he is a drummer).
“Tesla cars tend to be roomier than their competitors, but they don’t have the payload capacity or versatility of a pickup truck, and the R1T also has a gearshift tunnel, a large trunk, internal storage under the floor and a surprisingly roomy interior.”
