In the USA, a 1957 BMW 507 was put up for auction by Bonhams. They plan to get about $2 million for a rare sports car, even though its condition is far from ideal. Details of the car were revealed on the official website of the auction house.
The fact is that this BMW 507 coupe has not been on the roads since 1979 — all this time it was standing in an inconspicuous old garage. After the owner’s death, his family abandoned the car and didn’t really care about him. Now they decided to sell the car.
The paintwork of the body is far from in the best condition, and the interior trim is worn out. However, the engine and chassis are well-preserved. The car is equipped with an optional removable metal roof.
BMW 507 is the most expensive model of the German brand. The high cost of the car is due to its rarity – in 1956-1960, only 252 such convertibles were produced. Among their owners were several Formula 1 champions and Elvis Presley. Now the price of a BMW 507 in good condition can reach $5 million.
The BMW 507 sports car is equipped with a 3.2-liter V8 with 150 hp and a 4-speed manual transmission. It accelerates to 100 km/h in 11 seconds and develops to 195 km/h.
