The new Ford Bronco has a serious engine defect 1

The revived Ford Bronco SUV, designed seemingly for operation in harsh conditions, in fact, demonstrated an amazing weakness for such a model. On SUVs equipped with a 2.7-liter V6 engine of the EcoBoost family, the power unit can suddenly fail with minimal mileage. Moreover, the motor is no longer subject to repair, and it must be completely replaced with a new one. The plant recognized the problem but has not yet announced a full-fledged recall campaign for cars.

The journalists of The Drive edition found a lot of reviews on the Internet from Ford Bronco owners who report issues with the engine of their SUVs on the Bronco6G profile forum and the Reddit site, as well as on various social networks. In the absolute majority of cases, when running less than 10 thousand miles, the 2.7-liter V6 fails. The cause of the breakdown is a valve that breaks during engine operation due to a manufacturing defect.

The issue is the metal alloy of the valve leads to the fact that when the valve is heated, the internal structure of the metal changes and as a result, the valve plate breaks off from the rod — the broken part falls into the cylinder and disables the engine. The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has recorded dozens of complaints from Ford Bronco owners about issues with the car’s engine, and in most cases, the cause of the breakdown is a defective valve.

The potential number of faulty Bronco is not reported, but it is known that problematic valves have been installed on the motors for several months — broken engines are assembled in the range from May to October 2021. The maximum mileage at which the breakdown occurred is 6986 miles, the minimum is only 984 miles. “If any customers have issues, they should remember that the power plant of the car is covered by a 5—year warranty with a mileage of 60,000 miles,” Ford stressed.
