In 2022, on May 29, the famous 500-mile IndyCar Series race will take place on the Indianapolis highway. One of the participants of this weekend will be a mid-engined supercar Chevrolet Corvette C8 in the top version of the Z06 in a special version of the 70th Anniversary Edition. The anniversary model will act as a safety car, which will lead the peloton of racing cars before the start and will appear on the track in case of an accident or other problems.
Behind the wheel of the Chevrolet Corvette Z06, 70th Anniversary Edition will sit the former racer and owner of the team Sarah Fisher, who will act as the driver of the pace car during the “Indianapolis 500”.
Painted white Pearl Metallic (all Chevrolet Corvettes of the first year of production were white), the car is complemented by asymmetric red and black longitudinal stripes and an optional carbon fiber aerodynamic body kit Z07 Performance Package.
The coupe with carbon fiber wheels with red rims, red brake calipers, two-tone interior trim with red stitching, and red seat belts will technically be identical to the standard Corvette Z06. A sports car with a 670-horsepower atmospheric 5.5-liter V8 engine of the LT6 model, borrowed from the racing Corvette C8.R, in combination with an 8-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches, will enter the track.
