The mid-sized Colorado pickup of the new generation did not have time to celebrate its debut, as Chevrolet has already made a racing version of the model. The flagship modification of the Colorado ZR2 was taken as a basis, which is adapted from the factory to rough terrain better than other versions of the pickup, but it also received a number of improvements. However, there are no technical details about the new product yet, which did not prevent the announcement of the car’s racing debut in the Best in the Desert competition in August 2022.
The pickup truck was prepared for off-road races by the Chad Hall Racing team, which has been performing on the previous generation Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 since 2017 and is the only team that has driven its car to the finish line in all starts in the Best in the Desert series.
Despite the lack of detailed information about the new model, judging by the predecessor, the novelty will receive, first, a modified suspension. And a set of parts necessary for racing to ensure the safety of the car.
Recall that the factory Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 is equipped with a 314-horsepower 2.7-liter V6 gasoline turbo engine in combination with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive with different driving modes. The modification has a ground clearance increased to 272 millimeters and is equipped with advanced Multimatic DSSV shock absorbers and off-road tires.
