Volkswagen Group has unveiled the first photos of a new electric sedan model ID.AERO. So far, this is a concept, but the company promises that in the second half of 2023 it will become serial.
Actually, we knew a few years ago that Volkswagen was preparing an electric sedan based on the MQB platform. She is already known by the hatchback ID.3, crossovers ID.4, ID.5, and ID.6, as well as by vans and minibusses ID. Buzz. Now it is presented under a new name ID.AERO.
Despite the fact that the car has the status of a concept car, we have every reason to believe that it will be distinguishable from the production version only by individual parts. So you have the right to get used to this appearance.
Unfortunately, we didn’t learn much about the technical characteristics. So, the length of the car will approach five meters – this is an indicator of the latest generation of Volkswagen Passat or, for example, Toyota Camry.
Perhaps the most important disclosed indicator is the coefficient of frontal aerodynamic drag, which is 0.23. This is a very good indicator: the same as that of the Tesla Model 3, which is close in size. And it is he who provides energy efficiency and a power reserve of 620 kilometers.
However, otherwise ID.AERO, or rather, its platform seems to fall short of the Tesla Model 3. However, the German company did not promise to make a competitor of the “Three-piece”, but rather to say something like an electric analog of the Volkswagen Passat.
