Mercedes-Benz begins testing the eActros LongHaul electric truck. The tractor truck should go into production by 2024. This is reported by the official website of the Daimler Trucks division.
The new Mercedes-Benz eActros LongHaul will become the flagship in the line of electric truck models of the German brand. Its main competitor is called the Tesla Semi.

Mercedes-Benz eActros Long Haul is designed for road trains with a gross weight of 40 tons. Its power reserve will be about 500 km.
Judging by the first image, the tractor has a streamlined design with thin LED headlights. It is also known that the truck will receive cameras instead of rear-view mirrors.
It should be noted that not so heavy and less “long-range” electric trucks Mercedes-Benz eActros with a power reserve of 300-400 km are already on sale. In addition, their power plant is also used by American Freightliners.
According to the Daimler Trucks strategy, by 2030 half of all Mercedes-Benz trucks produced should be electric. The German concern is also actively developing the charging infrastructure – creating networks of charging stations together with Siemens and Volvo.
