
The jury of the “World Car of the Year” competition has published a list of candidates for victory in the 2022 season. The cars will compete in six categories, including separately for electric vehicles. According to the rules, the annual turnover of cars participating in the competition must be at least 10 thousand copies, which must be sold in at least two main regions of the planet and on different continents. The final result of the jury will be announced on April 13, 2022.
Audi Q4 E‐Tron, Cupra Formentor, Ford Mustang Mach‐E, as well as Genesis G70, Honda Civic, and Ioniq 5 are competing for the title of the best car in the world. In addition, they compete with Hyundai Tucson, Kia EV6, Lexus NX, Toyota GR 86 coupe, and Subaru BRZ.

In the competition for electric cars, the jury chose Audi E-Tron GT, BMW iX, Ford Mustang mAh-E, as well as Ionic 5 and Mercedes-Benz ECS. In the “Best Design of 2022” category, almost all “battery-powered” models are presented, to which Audi Q4 E‐Tron and Kia EV6 have been added.
The best city car can be Dacia Sandero, Opel Mokka, Renault Kiger and Toyota Yaris Cross or Volkswagen Taigun. Audi Q5 Sport back, BMW iX, Genesis GV70, as well as Mercedes-Benz ECS, and Volvo Q40 Recharge will compete for the title of the best premium car. The list of the world’s top sports cars includes Audi e-Tron GT, BMW M3/M4, Porsche 911 GT3, as well as Toyota GR86/Subaru BRZ and Volkswagen Golf GTI/ R.
Last November, experts published a list of candidates for the best European car of the year. The jury selected seven cars, six of which were equipped with electricity.
