Ford Super Duty has regained the title of the best tractor in the heavy-duty segment. Ford now offers record-performance V8 super diesel engines: the 6.7-liter V8 produces up to 507 horsepower and 1,627 Nm of torque. The alternative – is a 6.8-liter and 7.3-liter petrol V8 with outputs of 411 and 436 horsepower, respectively. According to the criterion of the maximum permissible weight of the towed trailer, the Super Duty also became a record-breaker.
The premiere of the new Ford F-Series Super Duty was held a month ago, but the main characteristics of the truck were revealed only now. “The Blue Oval didn’t deceive: the Super Duty broke the RAM 3500 HD towing record and pulled even further away from the Chevrolet Silverado HD.
The new Ford Super Duty is capable of towing a trailer with a gross weight of 18,143 pounds. The previous record was improved by 1315 pounds! However, such a capable truck can be a pickup truck with a 507-horsepower turbo diesel and optional Max Tow package, and only if the trailer is attached by the Gooseneck scheme with a support on the body.
Buyers of gasoline versions will have to settle for more modest performance: with Godzilla V8 7.3 engine (436 hp, 658 Nm), the maximum mass of towed trailer drops to 9980 pounds, which is also a record in class. The most affordable Ford Super Duty has a new 6.8-liter V8 engine with 411 horsepower and 603 Nm of torque.
Base rear-drive Ford F-Series Super Duty will cost 44 thousand dollars, and all-wheel drive is available to all trucks, beginning with the “second” option XLT. The price list will be published later, but it is already clear, that the most equipped and heavy pickups will cost about $100 thousand. Deliveries of the trucks will start in the spring of 2023.
