The Reuters news agency has received correspondence from the internal mail of Tesla. In one of the letters that were sent to the brand’s management around the world, Elon Musk said that he had “very bad premonitions” about the development of the global economy. In this regard, the head of the American corporation ordered to stop the recruitment of new employees, as well as to reduce the existing staff by about ten percent.
Tesla representatives refused to officially comment on the information that appeared. Experts believe that such measures are related to the ongoing shortage of microelectronic components, which will continue to gain momentum and will inevitably lead to a decrease in the production of the brand, which in turn will reduce the company’s profit.
The day before, Elon Musk ordered his employees to return to their offices and spend at least 40 hours a week there. According to the head of the company, failure to comply with the order will mean the resignation of the specialist. At the same time, the head of the corporation himself also did not comment on his “premonition”. According to official data, at the end of 2021, Tesla employed about 100,000 people.
In mid-May, restrictions in China related to a new outbreak of coronavirus forced Tesla to suspend the activities of its Shanghai “Gigafactory”. Due to the downtime, the company produced 98 percent fewer electric vehicles compared to March.
