Joan Mir joined the Royal Class in 2019 after winning the Moto3 World Championship in 2017 and a short “internship” in Moto2 in 2018. On the second attempt at Team Suzuki Ecstar, Mir unexpectedly entered into competition with his partner Alex Rins for the MotoGP champion title, starting from the second half of September and almost until the final, Mir and Rins led the MotoGP general standings, as well as the team championship and the Manufacturers’ Cup.
