Fabio Quartararo potentially follows in the footsteps of nine-time world champion Valentino Rossi, who has tested Formula 1 cars several times during his MotoGP racing career. According to Crash, El Diablo is preparing to change two wheels to four as part of private tests with Mercedes.
Fabio said that he dreams about it during the last stage of Formula 1:
We are working to get an opportunity to test a Formula 1 car at the end of the year. I’m crossing my fingers now. Formula 1 is very different from MotoGP, but I really like this sport. I hope I can ride in an F1 car one day.
Sky Sports F1 reporter Ted Kravitz said during the Sky broadcast:
Quartararo will take part in the Mercedes tests at the end of the year, it should be cool.
Quartararo is a big fan of seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton. If Quartararo is really able to ride a Formula 1 car with Mercedes, then this will be the second time in four years that a Yamaha factory pilot is transferred to an F1 car – in 2019 Hamilton and Rossi swapped W08 and M1 in Valencia.
