Given the latest trends in MotoGP, the balance of forces between Ducati and other rivals, then everything can be resolved on Sunday, at the Sepang International Circuit: Francesco Bagnaia can become the first Ducati champion since 2007 if…
After the Thai Grand Prix, where Fabio Quartararo did not earn a single point for the third time since the start today, and Pecco Bagnaia took the lead in the championship, the situation in the MotoGP general standings has changed radically: Cuartararo has no more trump cards and a margin of safety. This means that in order to change the situation, he only needs to win the remaining two Grand Prix, and such a scenario looks unlikely.
There is still a third contender in the game – Aleix Espargaro. And Alyosha, of course, is capable of feats, but according to many paddock insiders, he has lost his fighting spirit and faith in the possibility of taking the Aprilia title in 2022: Ducati’s dominance is depressing even for him.
Of the 24 MotoGP prototypes at the start, 8 are Ducati, and since the beginning of the season, they have provided their drivers with 14 pole positions and 11 wins. In addition, the Ducati factory ahead of schedule, back in Aragon, won the Constructors’ Cup. The factory Ducati Lenovo Team will definitely become the champion in the team competition. The dynamics of the Banyai score growth is record-breaking: for 8 races, Pecco earned 105 points (average – 13.1 per race), converting the gap from the leader of 91 points into an advantage of 14 points. Everything is going to the Triple Crown!

Francesco Bagnaia took the podium at Phillip Island, while Fabio Quartararo was forced to make a walking trip on a gravel trap after falling in turn 2. Bagnaia is the new leader of the MotoGP championship: it is enough for him to drive another stable race and, having earned 12 points more than the Frenchman, try on the Triple Crown.
Pecco Bagnaia will become the champion if:
Sepang will win, and Fabio will finish below the TOP 4;
he will become 2nd, and Fabio will not get into the TOP 6;
will be 3rd, and Fabio will be below 12th;
he will be 4th, and Fabio will be below 14th place;
he will close the TOP 5, and Quartararo will not earn a single point.
But if Pecco doesn’t finish, then the most interesting thing will happen in Valencia!
