Nissan Motor Co is recalling more than 300,000 SUVs in the United States due to a problem that causes the hood to suddenly open, blocking the driver’s view and increasing the risk of an accident.

The North American division of the Japanese automaker said that 322,671 Pathfinder vehicles produced between 2013 and 2016 are subject to recall.

Nissan said the accumulation of dirt and dust on the secondary hood latch could cause it to remain open even if the hood is closed, potentially causing it to pop out without warning.

Nissan said it is working on a way to fix the issue, and from Wednesday, the drivers of 1 affected car will be notified of the need to provide the vehicle to the nearest brand service center.
