For the Chicago Auto Show, which will take place on February 12-21, Nissan has prepared three tuning options for the new generation Nissan Frontier pickup truck, which has been on sale in the US market since the summer of 2021. The automaker notes that the cars are in the status of show cars, but when they were created, additional equipment from the official catalog was used. In other words, any Frontier owner can modify his pickup truck similarly.

The new items were named Frontier Project 72X, Frontier Project Adventure, and Frontier Project Hardbody. Pickups with a two-row cab were taken as a basis but in different configurations. For example, Project 72X is based on the entry-level all-wheel-drive Frontier S.

When creating it, Nissan engineers were inspired by the classic Datsun 720 of the late 70s — early 80s of the last century, which was known in the USA under the nickname Lie Hustler. Among the features of the Frontier, Project 72X is white “stamping” with PRO-4X tires instead of regular wheels and a 2.5-inch elevator kit.

Project Hardbody is built on the basis of Frontier in the medium SV configuration. This show car was dedicated to the 1985 Nissan D21 Hardbody. He received a three-inch elevator kit, other bumpers, wheel arch extenders, an additional lighting unit on the roof, wheels with an unusual “square” design, and BF Goodrich All-Terrain TA K02 285/70R17 rubber.

The last of the three concepts, Project Adventure, is based on the top Frontier Pro-4X. It is distinguished by an increased ground clearance, the presence of a carbon snorkel, a searchlight, and a tent on the roof. The pickup truck has a map of the USA on its body, which indicates its “adventurous” nature.

In the North American market, the Nissan Frontier is presented with a 3.8-liter atmospheric V6 engine with a capacity of 314 horsepower, which is paired with a nine-speed automatic. The drive is rear or full of a rigid connection of the front axle. Prices start from $28,140.
