New Yamaha YZF-R1 may appear in honor of its 25th anniversary 1

Yamaha introduced the original YZF-R1 in 1998. Thanks to the achievements of Valentino Rossi and Team Blue in MotoGP throughout the season, the motorcycle has gained loyal fans over the past 25 years. Yamaha has not revealed any plans to mark this quarter-century milestone, but this does not prevent the media from making predictions.

The main one among speculators is “Japan’s Young Machine”. The publication certainly boasts a successful track record, and many of its reported “rumors” have come true. In the October 2022 issue of Young Machine, the outlet is based on an idea dedicated to the 25th anniversary of R1 and presents all the possibilities of digital rendering.

As for the concepts, the artist dreams of more, equipping the legendary liter motorcycle with MotoGP-style wings and a livery reminiscent of the 1998 YZF-R1. Dazzling with Yamaha’s signature white and red racing colors, the updated R1 even uses the ’90s-style YZF logo along the side fairing.

While the Young Machine takes liberties with the bodywork and paint scheme of the motorcycle, the actual documents support the idea that Yamaha will release a new version of the R1 in 2023. In June 2022, a list of YZF1000W appeared in the FIM Recognized Competition Vehicles file. In the document, the YZF1000W is classified as a “racing” model with a four-stroke four-cylinder engine.

“Given the YZF600W designation for the YZF-R6 Race, designed for tracks only, it is safe to assume that this new liter motorcycle is an R1 prepared for racing.”
