Toyota has shared the first teaser images of the new Urban Cruiser Hyryder crossover, which was developed jointly with Suzuki specifically for India. The novelty belongs to the segment of budget compact SUVs and occupies a step above the Urban Cruiser in the local model line of the brand. The premiere of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder is scheduled for July 1, at the same time the acceptance of orders will be opened: two-hybrid versions will be offered to choose from.
According to Autocar India, the new crossover will be available with the technology of the “soft” hybrid Maruti Suzuki and a full-fledged hybrid installation from Toyota. Urban Cruiser Hyryder is expected to have a 1.5-liter K15C engine, which will become part of both hybrid systems.
Following the Toyota crossover, its “twin brother” from Maruti Suzuki will also appear, and the latter will be launched through Nexa brand outlets. Both models will be produced at Toyota’s Indian plant in Karnataka, and serial assembly will begin in August.
From 2006-2014, another model with the name Urban Cruiser was present in the Toyota model line. It was produced in Japan and sold in Europe and Latin America.
