The Medical Director of MotoGP officially confirmed that an examination after qualifying for the Malaysian Grand Prix revealed a fracture and severe bruising of Fabio Quarararo’s left hand.
X-rays showed the presence of a threadlike fracture (without fragmentation) of the middle finger of the left hand, as well as extensive bruising of soft tissues. This, however, is not yet the reason for Quartararo’s withdrawal from the fight – he was able to pass the simplest physical tests and was found fit to participate in the Malaysian Grand Prix.
However, the fall and injury on FP4 have already affected Fabio Quarararo’s performance: he had the worst qualifying this year and will start tomorrow’s race at Sepang International Circuit from the 12th position (4th line).
Both principal rivals in the fight for the 2022 title – Pecco Bagnaia and Aleix Espargaro found themselves in a difficult position in Q2 in Sepang, but still start ahead of Fabio, and Marc Marquez – from the 1st line (3rd position).
