Team Suzuki Ecstar has confirmed that Joan Mir will not be able to start the Aragon Grand Prix on Sunday after all due to the consequences of an injury sustained at the Red Bull Ring.
Mir received official admission from the MotoGP Directorate to the race, but after assessing the physical condition of the injured leg, the pilot and his team decided to skip Aragon and return to work in Motegi. There will be no replacement for Joan Mir.
“Joan continues to suffer from pain in his right ankle, which he broke in Austria. The main problem is a pain in the ligaments. We decided to return to the Japanese Grand Prix,” the team said in a statement.
Alex Rins starts the Aragon Grand Prix from the 3rd line.
