Things are getting worse for one of the contenders for the MotoGP title of 2022 – Aleix Espargaro from Aprilia Racing, and his chances of staying in contact with Cuartararo and Bagnaia are melting: the Spaniard left the IRTA tests in Misano with a new injury, which may affect the results, if not the overall participation in the Aragon Grand Prix.
As it became known, the second day of the IRTA Misano tests for Aleix ended ahead of schedule after a big fall in the 13th corner, as a result of which he broke the little finger of his left hand.
Niko Kovac was the first to find out about the injury – Aleix did not hide that he suspected a problem after the accident: “My finger hurts a lot, so I decided not to return to the track, we completed the tests for today,” Espargaro told her after returning to the team’s box.
Then Aleix appeared in front of journalists at a briefing already in a cast and gave more detailed comments: “A clean fracture, the finger looked like a snake, but it was set… Dr. Mir said that surgery would not be required. [As in the case of the leg], there is a chance to recover naturally quickly enough. We need a little rest, no stress. I hope I will be ready for Aragon. [Doctor] The world has scheduled an examination for the beginning of next week.”
The Aragon Grand Prix will take place in a week and a half, on September 18.
Aleix Espargaro takes the 3rd position in the MotoGP World Championship after Pecco Bagnaia won the San Marino Grand Prix and reduced the gap from the series leader, Fabio Quartararo by 14 points at once. Bagnaia finally beat Espargaro to the TOP 3 by 3 points.
