It became known that the MotoGP Directorate decided to fine the leader of the Moto2 World Championship Celestino Vietti from Mooney VR46 Racing Team for violating the start training procedure: Like MotoGP leader Fabio Quartararo, Vietti will be forced to drive a Long Lap Penalty at the British Grand Prix.
According to the Stewards, Vietti violated the start training procedure – he braked and started not where it was prescribed by the Directorate on Thursday.
Both leaders of the Moto2 and MotoGP championships will lose up to 4 seconds at the Silverstone race due to the need to perform a long lap penalty, which will have to be completed no later than 3 laps after the start of the race.
In both classes of the championship, the peloton is still very tight in the first 3-5 laps, so the need to jump out of it, drive along a loop of about 150 meters, and then return, definitely means the loss of 3 to 6 positions.
