Mitsubishi intends to develop a model line in the ASEAN countries (Association of Southeast Asian Nations). In the meantime, the Japanese brand has presented in Vietnam a harbinger of the future serial crossover, which will become a “strategically important global model.” The novelty was named XFC and so far debuted in the status of a concept, the “commodity” version is expected in the fiscal year 2023 (from April 2023 to March 2024).

The Mitsubishi XFC Concept is a compact five-seat crossover made in the brand’s signature style called Dynamic Shield. Among its features are T-shaped front and rear optics, and expanded wheel arches.

A single unit is installed in the cabin, combining a virtual instrument panel and a multimedia system screen. Two more screens are located at the front buildings – they display the image from the outdoor cameras. The front seats have developed support, and, like the rear sofa, are made in gray with yellow inserts.

The technical characteristics of the concept are not given. The company only notes that the crossover offers “a fun, safe, and reliable ride in various weather and road conditions.” It has a high ground clearance and a system for selecting driving modes: four presets are provided, Normal, Wet, Gravel, and Mud, and Wet was developed specifically for operation in Asian countries where tropical downpours are common.

Currently, Mitsubishi’s model line for ASEAN countries includes a Triton pickup truck, Pajero Sport, Outlander and Outlander PHEV crossovers, Xpander and Xpander Cross, as well as a compact Mirage hatchback, and an Attrage sedan. In addition to the XFC crossover, Asian markets are promised its electric version.
