German golfer Bernhard Langer started his professional golf career in 1972 and has won The Masters Tournament twice since, in 1985 and 1993. Until 2011, Langer was the only German to top the world golf rankings, and for the 40th anniversary of Bernhard’s sporting career, the German car manufacturer decided to make an exclusive car. Mercedes-Benz explained its decision by the fact that, as the athlete, their Gelandewagen has been a leader among its kind for several decades.

The basis of the unique car was taken off-road in the American version of the G 550, which is equipped with a 416-horsepower 4.0-liter turbocharged gasoline V8 engine in combination with a 9-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel-drive with three differential locks.

The art car does not imply any technical changes but has a special decoration of the body. The author of the project was the designer and artist from California, Lea Abucayan, who in her characteristic style depicted the main milestones of the golfer’s sports career.

Bright drawings, pictures of Bernhard Langer, and the hashtag #strongerthantime appeared on the bodywork – the slogan “Stronger than time” is a trademark for the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, which has been on the assembly line for more than 40 years.

Before that, in honor of the 55th anniversary of the AMG division for the 585-horsepower Mercedes-AMG G 63 SUV, an Edition 55 anniversary version was created, which features a special body and interior decor, but retains the fully standard technical part.
