Mercedes and BMW recalled 235 thousand cars due to software problems 1

Mercedes-Benz announced the recall of almost 235 thousand cars from the USA, which was produced from 2017 to 2022, reports the German edition Automobilwoche. Among them are cars of the A-Class, C-Class, CLA, crossovers, and SUVs GLA, GLE, and GLS.

The reason for the recall is a problem in the software of the communication module, which can interrupt access to mobile communications and data for navigation systems, emergency call services in case of an accident, etc.

Almost simultaneously with the recall of Mercedes-Benz it became known about the recall of BMW cars: 61 thousand crossovers X3, X5, and sedans 5-Series, which were made from 2016 to 2022, must go to the service. The reason: an issue with the engine software, which can cause the motor to lose power and torque.

Just a few days ago, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced a major Mercedes-Benz recall campaign. 292,287 cars that were sold between 2006 and 2012 in the U.S. and another 31,577 cars from Canada are scheduled for service as soon as possible. The reason for the recall then was brake booster corrosion. This defect can cause brake fluid to leak, greatly increasing the risk of an accident.
