Land Rover has announced the return of the Defender Trophy Edition, which gives customers the opportunity to participate in off-road driving competitions.
First introduced in 2021, the limited edition SUV returns in 250 copies. Of these, 220 will be sold in the United States and 30 — at selected dealers in Canada. All of them will be packed in the traditional yellow color.
“Based on the 2023 Land Rover Defender 90 P400 X-Dynamic SE model, the Defender Trophy Edition adds a special film, a unique trophy badge, an extended black exterior package, a trailer receiver, an air suspension package, heating options for cold climates and an extended package of off-road capabilities.”
In addition, it will also be supplied with an expedition roof rack, a retractable ladder to the roof, an electronic winch, as well as a package of winch accessories, front and rear mudguards, an integrated air compressor, mats with deep sides, and mats for the loading area.
But the benefits are not limited to what is physically attached to the car. In addition to getting all this gear, Defender Trophy Edition buyers will also have the opportunity to participate in a one-day off-road adventure for two people in their car.
The participants, taking place in Manchester, Vermont, will face a series of road and off-road tests that will test both car handling and teamwork. Participants will also receive an individual training session with experts, and the absolute winners of the competition will be invited to take part in the Classic Land Rover Trophy competition in the UK, which is scheduled to take place in the spring of 2023.
However, not everyone who buys Defender Trophy Edition will necessarily be able to participate in competitions. Land Rover offers only 90 seats on a first-come, first-served basis, which means that buyers who want to take part in the off-road competition do not have to wait, especially since owners of the 2021 model can also take part in the Trophy competition. The cost is $5000 per team.
The competition will start on October 8, 2022, and six waves of 15 teams will be held during the month.
