Lexus has revealed the premiere date and showed the interior of the first production electric car called RZ. The battery-powered crossover, which will debut on April 20 this year, will have an unusual interior layout with a digital “dashboard” and a multimedia system with a large touchscreen. However, the main feature of the novelty’s interior will be a multifunctional steering wheel, which will replace the traditional steering wheel.
The RZ model will be built on the same architecture as the Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra. At the same time, the Lexus electric crossover will differ significantly in exterior design and original interior layout. The design and layout of the interior are reminiscent of the next-generation NX. Both the digital dashboard and the multimedia system complex with a central tunnel looks similar.
The main feature of the Lexus RZ will be the steering wheel, made in the form of a steering wheel. It has a lot of physical buttons on each side, designed to control navigation and multimedia functions.
At the same time, Toyota previously announced the bZ4X prototype with a similar steering wheel. However, whether the production model will receive a non-standard steering wheel is unknown.
At the end of January staff from T, Sportline studio developed an unusual steering wheel for Tesla. Specialists suggested installing something between a standard steering wheel and a futuristic “steering wheel” in electric cars.
