If the original Toyota Stout was a frame model, then the modern model will get a carrier body. The management of the Japanese concern saw the success of Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz pickups, built on the basis of crossovers, and decided to create a competitor to them.
The pickup will be based on the TNGA platform, that is, its relative will be a Toyota RAV4 crossover. The length of the automobile will be about 5 meters, that is it will be much more compact than the frame Toyota Hilux and Tacoma.
The design of the car may be sustained in the spirit of the Toyota Compact Cruiser concept car. Engines will be obviously borrowed from RAV4, that is, Toyota’s pickup will get a 2.5-liter gasoline four, as well as hybrid units. The starting price will be just over $20,000.
Toyota has promised to reveal more details about the future model in the summer of 2023. That’s when the first concept car may appear.
