Ford has released its newest police car, based on the F-150 Lightning Pro EV pickup truck. The special purpose vehicle has received a number of modifications to support the new role of the police car, offering options with a standard or extended battery.
The F-150 Lighting Pro SSV received a protective arc on the front bumper, LED signal beacons installed on the roof, as well as a suitable paint with the inscription “All-Electric Police Special Service Vehicle”.
Inside, the seats are upholstered with high-quality heavy-duty fabric and have reduced side bolsters that facilitate the boarding and disembarking of police officers in holsters. The rear seats have vinyl upholstery, which is easier to clean. The dashboard has a 12-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12-inch SYNC4 infotainment touchscreen.
Standard features also include the Ford Co-Pilot 360 ADAS package and the Ford Pro platform with tools for more efficient fleet management. In addition to the rear of the body, with the onboard Pro Power generator, police officers can also use the Mega Power Frunk in front of lockable cargo space of 14.1 cubic feet and an additional 220 amp DC power supply.
“The F-150 Lightning Pro SSV is designed to solve specialized tasks of the department that are not related to prosecution. The automaker offers an EV pickup truck with both a standard and an increased power reserve. The first produces 452 hp for a pulling force of 7700 pounds, and the second increases it to 580 hp. In both cases, the torque is 1051 Nm with power transmission to all four wheels.”
Pro Power Onboard can serve as a mobile power source for lighting evening accidents on the highway. The electric transmission of the pickup truck helps to potentially reduce the costs associated with fuel and the need for scheduled maintenance.
Detailed specifications of the Ford F-150 Lightning Pro SSV 2023 will be published this summer. They will differ little from the standard non-police F-150 Lightning.
