Honda unveiled a compact crossover based on the new Civic 1

Honda has unveiled the American version of the second-generation HR-V compact crossover, which differs significantly from the previously shown European version of the model. In this case, both cars are based on the platform of the Civic eleventh generation.

The new Honda HR-V differs from the modification for Europe by another grille, increased front and rear overhangs, as well as revised LED lights, and a different design of wheels.

Technical characteristics of the model are not called yet. The crossover of the previous generation was offered with a 1.8-liter gasoline unit developing 143 hp and 172 Nm of torque. Presumably, this motor will be replaced by a new 2.0-liter unit, which produces 160 hp and 187 Newton-meters on the Civic model.

In addition, a new 1.5-liter “turbo-four,” available on the Civic in two stages of boost: 183 and 202 horsepower, may enter the lineup. The engine is capable of working together with a six-speed manual transmission or a Variator.

As for the European variant of the Honda HR-V of the new generation, this car has another technical stuffing. It is equipped with a hybrid power plant e: HEV, which includes a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that works together with a pair of compact electric motors. Together, the units produce 131 hp and 253 Nm of torque. The driver can choose one of the three main driving modes: “Sport”, “Normal” and “Econ”. In addition, there is an additional driving mode called “B”, with the activation of which the system of energy regeneration during braking is intensified.
