The Radar brand, owned by the Chinese company Geely, revealed the characteristics of its first model — the RD6 electric pickup truck. The truck received a power plant with a capacity of 272 horsepower and a battery with a capacity of 85.9 kilowatt-hours, which will allow you to drive more than 600 kilometers without recharging. The RD6 is based on the new SEA platform, and the size of the car is comparable to the Toyota Hilux or Isuzu D-Max. Later, other Radar models will be added to the line.
Geely Holding launched the Radar brand in July of this year and at the same time showed its first model — the RD6 electric pickup truck. This is a truck for outdoor activities, addressed to residents of large cities and built on the SEA platform from Zeekr 001 and smart #1.
The RD6 is comparable in size to Toyota Hilux or Isuzu D-Max pickups. The model will be offered with a double-row cabin and a cargo platform with a length of 1525 millimeters, and its passport load capacity will be 755 kilograms.
Four 220-volt sockets are installed in the body of the electric car. They can be used to power any household appliances — from a kettle to an air conditioner and an electric grill. The maximum output power is six kilowatts. Sealed compartments are provided under the hood (70 liters) and under the rear seats (48 liters) to accommodate camping gear. At the same time, the front panel and center console are borrowed from the Geely HaoYue SUV.
The power plant will be one for now: a rear electric motor with 272 horsepower and a traction battery with a capacity of 85.9 kilowatt-hours with an operating voltage of 352 volts. According to unconfirmed information, the pickup accelerates to “hundreds” in about six seconds, and the range on a single charge exceeds 600 kilometers. Later, more powerful versions may appear in the gamut, but nothing has been reported about them yet.
But it is known that a wide range of accessories has been prepared for the RD6. In addition to branded surfboards, it will include a rigid cargo platform cover, a mini-refrigerator, and a radio receiver. In China, sales of electric cars will begin before the end of this year, but prices have not yet been announced.
Meanwhile, Geely is already making plans for the future and promises to release a medium- and full-size pickup truck of “new energy”, a large truck and SUV, as well as an all-electric ATV under the Radar brand.
