Former Formula 1 driver Mika Salo said that with such failures in tactics and reliability problems as in the 2022 season, Ferrari simply does not deserve to win the championship. Nevertheless, the Finn praised the team leader Mattia Binotto and expressed hope that the Reds will improve at the end of the season.

It’s hard to say what exactly is wrong with Ferrari, but they are constantly making mistakes,” quotes the RacingNews365 edition of Salo, who appeared in several races for Ferrari in the 1999 season as a replacement for Michael Schumacher. – Yes, the team is under a lot of pressure, but this can be said about any other team. In general, I have the impression that at the briefings before the race they discuss not how to win, but how to lose [laughs]. I don’t know what’s going on with them.
I think Ferrari just doesn’t deserve to win the championship this year. But I want them to solve their problems after the summer break and finally start fighting normally for victories. Then the races and the championship will become more interesting.
In general, I have to say that Mattia Binotto is a great guy. He built the team and brought it back to the top. We just need to do something about the performance in the races – Ferrari is very fast in qualifying.”
