In the United States, a scandal erupts again around the new generation of Ford Bronco SUVs. It became known that a significant proportion of cars are equipped with defective 2.7-liter gasoline units of the EcoBoost series.
The investigation is being conducted by the National Institute of Road Safety (NHTSA). The problem, according to drivers, is due to the fact that the car engine can lose performance at any time. Attempts to turn off and start the engine do not solve the problem.
The 2.7-liter modification of the units has difficulties with the valve: due to heating, it deforms, the valve plate breaks off, falls into the cylinder, and disables the engine.
Ford representatives have already said that they are aware of the issue, and decided to remind drivers that the car is covered by a warranty of almost 100 thousand kilometers. Therefore, anyone who has encountered an Ecoboost 2.7 engine malfunction can repair the malfunction at the company’s expense.
The 2.7-liter unit was installed on both used cars and new cars. A breakdown can occur while driving at high speed, for example on a highway, and this can already lead to serious consequences for both Bronco passengers and other cars.
At the moment, Ford has not announced the start of the recall campaign: the concern is awaiting the decision of NHTSA. According to preliminary estimates, the Detroit Ford plant, where Bronco is assembled, could produce up to 25 thousand defective SUVs.
