British YouTube channel Carwow held a drag race between “track” Ferrari 488 Pista, Lamborghini Huracan STO, and Porsche 911 GT3 (992). The most dynamic mid-engine supercar was revealed after a series of quarter-mile starts, a pair of half-mile parallel races from 50 mph (80 kilometers per hour), and the final test was to evaluate brake performance from 100 mph (161 kilometers per hour).
The Porsche 911 GT3 is inferior to its rivals in power, but also costs almost half as much – from ВЈ131,500. The German coupe has 510 hp (470 Nm) of the 4,0-liter atmospheric six-cylinder engine and a 7-speed “robot” gearbox. The curb weight is 1,435 kilograms.
The Huracan STO is a road coupe built according to the canons of racing cars. Mass of the fueled car with a driver does not exceed 1440 kilograms, naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 develops 640 horsepower and 565 Nm of torque, the traction is transmitted through a seven-speed “robot” with a double-clutch. The price in the UK is ВЈ260,000.
Ferrari 488 Pista is equipped with a 3.9-liter 720-horsepower (770 Nm) twin-supercharged V8, the gearbox is a seven-speed “robot” with two clutches. The curb weight is 1,485 kilograms, price in the UK – from ВЈ254,000.
At a distance of a quarter of a mile the fastest supercars were separated by 0.1 seconds; results of races “from a course” turned out unequivocal, but the result of tests of brakes turned out to be unexpectedly close. The cheaper and underpowered Porsche performed decently against its Italian competitors.
