Rumors about signing a contract with India to host MotoGP in the foreseeable future were confirmed today by Dorna Sports: Buddh International Circuit is ready to host the Moto Grand Prix World Championship. Dorna will determine the roadmap in the near future, but an agreement with a local promoter has already been signed.
In New Delhi, on the way from Aragon to Japan, the boss of Dorna Sports – the President of the company Carmelo Espeleta and his son, the sports director of MotoGP Carlos Espeleta and a couple of representatives of the general promoter flew into the light. Before the Aragon Grand Prix, there were rumors that the Indian promoter Fairstreet Sports and the Union Sports Corporation (simply, the Ministry of Sports of India) had reached an agreement with the government to simplify visa and customs barriers for the Moto Grand Prix World Championship.
Obviously, this rumor turned out to be true.
However, it is premature to say that the Indian Grand Prix will be included in the MotoGP calendar already in 2023. The “road map” is only being prescribed so far.
The 2023 MotoGP calendar should be announced any day now.
