The first official photos of the revived DeLorean have been published. The iconic car from the movie “Back to the Future” still has an heir – the new Alpha5 model will be released in 2024. Autocar writes about this.
The rights to the trademark were bought back in 1995 by the Briton Stephen Wein, who had previously been engaged in the repair and maintenance of the old DeLorean. And only now has he managed to create a new sports car.
The exterior of the Alpha5 was developed in the Italian atelier ItalDesign, which also created the original DeLorean DMC-12. Nevertheless, the new coupe turned out to be absolutely unlike the famous ancestor.
If the 1981 model was distinguished by a faceted design, then its successor is much more elegant in appearance. However, some family features are still preserved: the doors rise up, and characteristic blinds are installed on the rear window. In addition, the car will become larger.
DeLorean Alpha5 Dimensions:
Length — 4995 mm
Width — 2044 mm
Height — 1370 mm
The DeLorean salon has been declassified, only partially: it is known that the car will become a four-seater and will receive a virtual instrument panel and a large portrait format display. The interior will be much more luxurious than its predecessor because the model is positioned as a premium. The main competitor is called Porsche Taycan and Mercedes-AMG GT.
DeLorean Alpha5 Features
The new DeLorean Alpha5 will be an electric car. It is stated that it will be able to accelerate to 100 km / h in 3.4 seconds, and its maximum speed will be limited to 240 km/h. The car will receive a battery with a capacity of over 100 kWh, and its power reserve will exceed 480 km.
You will be able to see the DeLorean electric car live in August at a retro show in California. Production will begin with a limited series of 88 cars. This figure is not taken in vain, because in the movie “Back to the Future” the DeLorean time machine accelerated exactly to 88 miles per hour. Each such car will be sold complete with a special NFT token. And later, the line will be expanded by a new gasoline model with a V8 engine.
