The jury of the contest “Car of the Year in North America” (North American car, truck, and SUV of the Year or NACTOY) has published a list of contenders for the title of best models. It includes 47 models of various classes at once: among them, they will choose the best among passenger models, SUVs, and pickups.
However, among the latter, the jury will have to look for a winner between only three models: Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 and electric Ford F-150 Lightning, and Lordstown Endurance. But in the list of crossovers and SUVs, there are 31 cars (including two Vietnamese VinFast cars at once), and there are 13 candidates among passenger cars.
The jury of the NACTOY competition includes 50 journalists from the largest automotive publications in the USA and Canada. The semi-finalists in each category will be announced in September 2022, the finalists in November, and the winners in each category in January 2023.
The winners of the NACTOY in January 2022 were announced Honda Civic in the Passenger Car category, Ford Bronco in the Utility Vehicle category (SUVs and crossovers), and the Ford Maverick pickup truck received the cargo award.
