Another luxury and the very powerful car became the hero of the service campaign – one sample of the Bugatti Chiron Hypercar was recalled, because of a mistake made during the assembly. To eliminate it, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced a recall of the car, during which Bugatti specialists will have to deal with the problem of one insufficiently tightened bolt in the fastening of the power structure of the front of the Hypercar.
As follows from the description of the issue, in the front subframe of the Hypercar, one of the two mounting bolts was tightened with 50 percent less force than the established – nine-newton meters instead of the minimum allowable 19-newton meters.
Bugatti stressed that the defect was detected during in-plant quality control of assembled cars. At the plant in Molesheim, France, the company not only keeps track of the tightening parameters of certain fasteners on specific cars but even monitors the tools that are used to install the parts.
In the end, it turned out that out of all the Chiron produced, only one bolt on the 2018 Hypercar assembled was under tightened. As a result, Bugatti has promised to cover all costs of fixing the factory defect. The brand will pay not only for the repair but also for the costs of transporting the car from the owner to the service and back.
