As part of the 50th anniversary of the BMW M division, which celebrates its half-century anniversary in 2022, the German automaker decided to lift the veil of secrecy over its developments. In two videos, BMW showed several secret prototypes of the most extreme CSL line until this year. In the first part of the project, unknown modifications of M2, M3, M5, and M6 cars of different generations were shown, and now it’s time to show a prototype of the newest BMW M4 CSL sports car of the G82 generation.
In the video, BMW M instructor De Weichretter clearly demonstrated that all the prototypes in the brand’s storerooms are full-fledged cars. Sitting behind the wheel of a BMW M2 CSL Prototype (F87) equipped with a 450-horsepower engine, a representative of the brand arranged a drift on the coupe and showed that we are not talking about full-size mock-ups of concept cars, but about operating cars.
The second premiere was a pre-production sample of the BMW M4 CSL – a serial sports car that was shown in the spring of 2022, and therefore it is especially interesting to see how a commercial vehicle differs from its progenitor. There are not so many changes, but still, they are there and BMW M fans will be interested.
Despite the fact that only two cars were shown in the second episode of the online series The Secret BMW M Garage, it seems that the story about CSL prototypes will continue. At least because there are still four cars hidden under the covers in the frame.
