The BMW R 1250 R and R 1250 RS will return in 2023 with some minor updates. BMW boxer roadsters will receive small-size changes and updated electronics.
Both models will receive minor changes starting from the 2023 model year. The changes, to put it mildly, are insignificant, unlike the stunning BMW M 1000 R hyper naked model, which will soon be presented to the world.
It’s been about four years since the R 1250 R and RS were updated, with the latest updates occurring in 2018 for the 2019 models. Minor changes include differences in their fairings and a revised electronics package.
The models will undergo a designation change to OM71 and OM81 for the R 1250 R and R 1250 RS, respectively.
As stated, we will still see the BMW 1254 cc boxer twin with shift-cam technology. The capacity will still be 134 horses.
The new catalytic converter will be used to reduce emissions, which will lead the pair to the second stage of the Euro-5 standard.
The size changes will include slightly smaller dimensions for the R 1250 RS model. The wheelbase will be the same for the 2019 and future 2023 models. We also see that the new bikes will be slightly higher than before. This indicates that the suspension spring has been revised, or the accessory has been changed.
“Meanwhile, the standard R 1250 R remains the same in size, but the fairings may be updated by 2023 to maintain the modern appearance of the model.”
