Aston Martin has introduced a new Formula 1 car 1

A week ago, the Aston Martin F1 team announced the conclusion of a long-term strategic partnership with Aramco and renamed itself the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One Team. Today, the AM22 car of the 2022 season is presented at the Aston Martin Lagonda plant in Gaydon, Great Britain. The car complies with the new technical regulations of the championship, the purpose of which is to make the races more spectacular.

In the 2022 season, the emphasis is on simplified aerodynamics, so the main part of the downforce of the car will be generated due to the profiled bottom and the ground effect created by it. The AM22 clearly shows how the shape of the side deflectors and the front wing has changed, which is now devoid of the Y250 turbulence generators from the nose. Despite the fact that the pressure is expected to be less, the rivals will be able to move closer to each other.

The changes also affected the wheels. Pirelli’s tires are now made from a new, more wear-resistant compound, so Aston expects more wheel-to-wheel fighting. In addition, flaps appeared in the front, which complicated the air supply to the brakes, so, as in the case of the RB18 car of the Oracle Red Bull Racing team, there is still a lot of work ahead. According to Aston Martin, with the start of tests, the AM22 will radically evolve, as engineers will begin to receive real data on the operation of new elements.

Presentations of new cars of the majority of participating teams of the Formula 1 championship are planned for this month. The cars have already been shown by Haas and Red Bull. Next up are AlphaTauri (February 14 at 14:00), Williams Racing (February 15, 16:00), Ferrari (February 17, 16:00), Mercedes-AMG Petronas (February 18), Alpine (February 21), and Alfa Romeo (February 27).
