A new world speed record among cars approved for public roads was set in the USA. It was set by the supercar Ford GT 2006 – it gained speed up to 500.1 km/h. The video was published on the YouTube channel of Johnny Bohmer Proving Ground, where the record run was carried out.

The car was driven by the autodrome owner Johnny Bolmer. The Ford GT improved on the achievement of the latest SSC Tuatara. In the spring, the supercar accelerated to 474.8 km/h on the same track. However, the Tuatara remains the fastest production car in the world.
The matter is that this supercar Ford GT can not be already called a serial automobile, though Johnny Bolmer uses it as an everyday car. The car has been seriously modified: due to two turbines, the power of the 5.4-liter V8 has risen to 1900 hp. Ford GT can reach 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, and up to 160 km/h – in 5.3 seconds.
It is noteworthy that at first Johnny Bolmer didn’t plan to break any records. He went to the track to test another modification of his Ford GT – the motor has replaced the electronic control unit. There was measuring equipment installed in the car, and it recorded the speed.
